From dopamine to dharma. A solo show about ADHD, addiction and breathwork.
This work in progress show is the story of one man’s healing journey, from chasing laughs and dopamine hits to moving into a Buddhist community and trying (badly) to meditate.
Blending stand-up, storytelling and theatrical moments, A Mind Full explores what happens when a wide boy with impulse issues goes full mindfulness. Along the way: spiritual bypassing, compulsive behaviour and the ongoing tension between craving peace and needing the spotlight.
A raw, funny and painfully relatable look at what happens when you try to heal... and your brain has other plans.
The show builds on the world of the 2023 short film of the same name, written and directed by Steve Whiteley. The film won the British Comedy Guide Pro Talent Award for Best Directing, with the BCG praising it as:
“Witty and empathetic… poking fun at just how difficult it is to fight distraction, thorny emotions and our own nature in the search for peace and enlightenment. It mines the gap between intention and actuality for a cheeky, memorable irony.”
“Enjoy this hilarious short film called A Mind Full, the latest from filmmaker Steve Whiteley. It will help you deal with anger!”— FirstShowing.net
Now reimagined for the stage, A Mind Full is a deeper, messier, funnier look at what it really means to grow, heal and try to breathe through it all.
